Not bad, 80 days is superb for unlocking it. Because of the newer encryption algorithm (AES-128) in WinRAR 3 it's an extremely difficult, long winded, and especially time consuming process. A freeware version available is cRARk (not personally tested) but you'll have no option but to brute force this over a number of days/weeks/months. Sorry I couldn't provide you a quick fix solution but these are the facts. On a lighter note, the file may have a dictionary word as a password and you'd be able to unlock in a matter of minutes/hours. May we ask why do you want to crack the password of the RAR file?
Seems like it's not your file. So, please tell the purpose. Regarding why people encrypt files. Why do you put a password on your email account?
To protect it from abuse, and unauthorized access, and to prevent people from reading your private mails. The same applies for files that people put a password on, or encrypt them. To protect the sensitive files, or their personal files from access by other people, or for people whom they are meant to give access to. Makes perfect sense. Hallo, I am looking for a really fast program that unlocks RAR Passwords. I have commercial references removed but they are frightfully slow. (It takes 80 days (!) to unlock a file with brute force).
They’re pretty much useless. I would really appreciate it if anyone can provide information on a really fast RAR password unlocker. Just who ARE these people who encrypt these files anyway? What’s the point?

Are they trying to be funny? It makes no sense to me. Usually when people locks archived files, they provide the password to it, on the site itself, close to the download link.
